(About)

Jae Cho is a Founding Member and Co-Managing Partner of Vaturi & Cho LLP in Toronto. He heads the firm's Personal Injury practice while also overseeing the Real Estate and Corporate Commercial divisions — a multifaceted legal leader who acts as a dedicated advocate for injured parties and their families.

Jae acts primarily on behalf of plaintiffs in serious personal injury and disability claims, but he has also represented insurers and defendants in his earlier career. That two-sided perspective gives him a clear practical read on what does — and doesn't — move the needle in negotiation. He has successfully represented individuals and families in high-stakes litigation and mediated multimillion-dollar disputes involving very serious injuries.

His personal-injury work covers traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, orthopaedic injuries, psychological injuries, and chronic soft-tissue injuries, as well as wrongful-death claims for families who have lost a relative through negligence. When an insurer denies or undervalues a claim, his approach is to organize the medical and financial evidence early so the case is built to fight, not to settle for less.

Beyond personal injury, Jae handles complicated commercial and real-estate transactions and provides strategic consultancy to start-up ventures and international companies entering the Canadian market. Clients value the ability to bring an accident matter, a real-estate closing, and a corporate question to a single lawyer who already knows their situation end-to-end.

Jae earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Faculty of Law at the University of Western Ontario in 2011. He previously graduated from Trinity College at the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science in 2005. Committed to continuous growth, he is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Knox College, part of the Toronto School of Theology at the University of Toronto.

Jae is also the author of the Korean-language book The Man Who Defends (변호하는 남자, ISBN 979-11-93113-02-8) and writes regular columns and posts that demystify complex legal concepts for the public. He has been featured in MBC's More Live Today Morning (2020), addressing public-safety issues around illegal parking obstructing fire-truck access, and in SBS's investigative documentary I Want to Know That — "967 Days of Detention and the Missing Trial" (2024), on a Korean national's 32-month wrongful imprisonment in Canada. Through his own educational content on Instagram and YouTube, he has reached an audience of more than 10 million viewers.

For clients across the Korean community in Toronto, Jae often is the first lawyer they meet who can walk them through their rights and options in Korean — directly, without an interpreter. From the free 30-minute initial consultation through settlement or trial, he handles every stage of the case personally, with 24/7 intake available immediately after an accident and in-person hospital or home visits for clients with limited mobility.

  • Jae Cho is the most honest, professional, down-to-earth lawyer that I have encountered in my 35 years of doing business. He is always pleasant and always tries to make himself available at a time convenient to his client. He makes everyone feel at ease when explaining complicated legal matters and never makes you feel he is in a rush. Hard working, kind, considerate, knowledgeable and above all, trustworthy.

  • I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Mr. Jae Cho and his team. They are professional, responsive, and knowledgeable. Jae took his time to explain the many pages of legal jargon that would otherwise be difficult to understand. His whole team — Yvonne and Helen in particular — were very helpful and quick to respond to my inquiries. I would definitely recommend them.

  • Mr. Cho was very meticulous and knowledgeable, not only in Canadian law but also Korean law. He handled my case — which seemed it would take a long time and a hectic process — skillfully. My case was cleared without any concerns. If you are looking for a lawyer, don't waste time and money — just talk with Mr. Cho or his staff. Keen-sighted, very rational and thoughtful.
